Hey Tony, I checked it out Wednesday and I must say from some hard experience how good these guys are with really light wind and dealing with getting out, currents, rocks and especially whitewater.

At Kanaha yesterday before I went out I was told its mast high (sometimes more) and they're closing out fast. I was mentally stoked (about the height)but underestimated the jump in power from head high and got beat up. Low back's sore again $#@%&!! So now I'll have more time to check out the competition :?

Boys and girls new to wave sailing - make sure your cardios good, you can swim hard after your gear and you can hold your breath for awhile.

Hey Mike sorry to hear about your back. I know that feeling all too well, I was constantly fighting with that in San Carlos. Also know that sensation of getting worked in those waves. :o It's definitely a challenge but one well worth it. It's amazing watching those guys out there at Hookipa. Watching the videos is not quite the same as being there, you never see them swimming for their gear or getting washed up on the rocks. It amazes me how those guys can slog out through those waves and the punishment they can take when they crash. Then they just get back up and head out to do it over again. They must be completely exhausted buy the end of those competitions, especially the guys that make it to the finals. Hope the back gets better soon and you're back out there catching more waves. The forecast looks good for this afternoon! :D

Thanks for the encouragement Michael. I can now sure see why you've got hooked on wave sailing.

Crazy to watch these guys struggle with the conditions, even the King himself!
